What we do

Safer Landings provides a range of mental health prevention and promotion programmes for those in the criminal justice system who:

  • Have a personal experience of mental health issues

  • Facing a mental health crisis

  • Are willing and able to help peers with mental health issues

We empower individuals, organisations and establishments to overcome the stigma and barriers of mental health issues faced by some of the most vulnerable members in todays society.

What we do

Mental Health accreditations

Our courses are specifically designed to address the needs of the secure setting. Our accreditations have been adapted to provide learners with a more thorough understanding of mental illness and its causes, empowering them to make changes within their lifestyles and settings to prevent and promote mental health

First Aider for Mental Health

The role for someone trained with Safer Landings (First Aid for Mental Health) will be a point of contact for any individual experiencing a mental health issue or distress. Having compassionate support is key to maintaining wellbeing. Encouraging healthier discussions and ensuring there is always someone to confide in.

Facilitate Safer Spaces

Safe spaces are important for mental health. Safe spaces can provide a break from judgment, unsolicited opinions, and having to explain yourself. It also allows people to feel supported and respected.

Mental Health Talks

Awareness is key. Talking about mental health helps improve our prison environments by making it more acceptable for those suffering from mental illnesses to seek help, and undermines the stigma that has been too prevalent for too long.
